Sakya Retreat Facility Project

His Eminence Gyana Vajra Rinpoche now wishes to add a further project to his expanding work in supporting and propagating the Dharma. He wishes to establish a mountain retreat facility for medium to long term retreatants. The facility is envisaged as providing individual retreat rooms and facilities for support of retreatants, for both senior Sakyapa monks from His Eminences own monasteries and non Tibetan retreatants. Suitable land is currently being chosen in the hills behind Rajpur. This facility will fulfill the wishes for a retreat place of His Holiness Sakya Trizin, His Eminence Ratna Vajra Rinpoche and many aspiring retreatants.

Gyana Vajra Rinpoche has thought about this in general for some time and now is investigating some excellent land - excellent views, good size, cool in: summer, isolated yet near to Rajpur, quiet!

Retreats are an integral part of Buddhist practice and an essential element in the road to realisation. The provision of suitable places for retreat under the guiding auspices of great Masters is therefore one of the most valuable ways to contribute towards the development of sangha and the ongoing viability of the dharma in this troubled world.

The work of creating the physical base for such meritorious activity involves the resources of many people. We hope to make it possible for sangha members to contribute to this project in a variety of ways. At this point it is most important to gather the financial resources for buying the land and beginning the building of facilities. There are various ways to help with this by directly contributing funds, or by communicating the projects to others and seeking sponsors, or undertaking fund raising activities, or contributing ideas or other possibilities for fund generation.

People who are interested in become part of this very worthwhile project car either communicate with Gyana Vajra Rinpoche directly khondung@graffiti.net or communicate with Inge at inge@nor.com.au who is helping with the fund raising for this project and would like to support the coming together of interested core of people in a virtual email group of coordinators.

If you are interested in helping raise the funds, know of people who might be interested to be major or minor sponsors, or would be interested in sponsoring yourself or would simply like to continue to be informed as to how the project is going, please email your details to: khondung@graffiti.net with some indication of the level of involvement you would like.
